HANGING BASKETS

Planted today with bacon Giga white and rose; Bidens Sunbird Yellow; Diascia Elf’s Peach; Trailing Fuchsia Blazaway; Calibrachoa. Calipatile Red;Nemesia Melody Lilac blue; Petunia Surfing White; Verbena Voodoo Red Star; Upright Geranium Signal. And some Japanese Anemones to add colour to the front garden. Cosmos are sprouting in the greenhouse but not the tomato seeds. Warmer today.

I went to Bristol to see Martin, the flag shaggers have been busy – it looks so cheap and shoddy. The new Public Order Act comes into force which will make protests more difficult. With Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil specifically mentioned by the government it seems that big business may be behind the law. Perhaps they want protests to be “Please sir, rich and powerful man will you please stop destroying my childrens future”. Bastards!

According to military toffs (in the pay of armanents companies), the UK is ‘lacking in urgency’ in planning for war! TBH the only threat to NATO has come from within – Trumps threats to Greenland, whilst Russia remains hostile there is little actual threat. Still the boys will want more toys to play war with. More ships and planes and soldiers to possibly die. If we really want to up grade our defence we could dismiss half the Generals, Admirals and Wing Commanders and use the money to build a few thousand drones and employ teenage gamers to steer them? The comments made referred to companies based in the Gulf and a need to expand the RAF and RN. No mention of civilian protection at all in this supposed war threat. Of course the press love making people afraid and thus buying papers to find out more.

A few years ago it was suggested that we put answer phones on our beaches saying ‘we surrender’. OK – I joke, but there is an element of truth!

Farage states that he has done a deal to repatriate Afghans claiming asylum. Will he therefore complicit in murder.? cun*.

INSANITY

He really does think he is the messiah or even god. Why the 25th Amendment (Section 4) is not being used is beyond belief. Or at least places the selfishness of American politicians to the fore, they do not act as they are unsure what the consequences would be for themselves – screw the American people. The US Navy has started a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz – what tthis will achieve, like the war itself, is unclear. He has also said he will renew bombing, specifically missile factories! (what have they been bombing so far?). Pope Leo has suffered the wrath of Trump’s fevered mind, but has shown superior intelligence by not responding to to the slanders. Trump just does not understand the role of religion and the pope; I doubt that the moron will have read Shakespeare but he seems to believe in the quote from Julius Caesar . ‘War gives the right to the conquerors to impose any condition they please upon the vanquished.’

Meanwhile in the UK, an inquiry into the murder of 3 girls in Southport found 5 shortcomings, but the gutter press chose just one for the front pages – the parents of the murderer. To be fair they need to have identifiable hate figures every day, and non-white people are always a good target. How many reported with outrage at the paedophile ring in Somerset that was entirely white men!

And – Trump was photographed accepting a McDonalds takeaway delivery at the White House – oh common! if I was President with a mansion staffed by top chefs I would not insult them by buying in crap! Like I said earlier ‘fucking mad”!

HUNGARY

Orban decisively defeated – and a key element was Trumps support for him! Orbans popularity crashed after JP Vance’s visit and Trump’s endorsement. So right wing populism is waning across Europe. Hopefully pseudo-nationalism will follow. Gradually the young are begining to assert an influence, for too long they have been marginalised by paternalistic policies. Now that these policies have been replaced by the greed of capitalism they are rejecting the old status quo. This status quo is ensconced in tthe old two party system of Conservative and Labour. However the fundamental structure of society has been broken. No longer is the traditional pattern of hierarchy working – work hard at school/university – get a good job for life – get married – buy a house – have kids. Now we have a society where the frustrations of lack of opportunities and hope are as ephemeral as rainbows.

Meanwhile Farages right hand man – Tice has been accused of tax fraud and avoiding payment of £120000, ahh, the party of the people!! The right wing press are still confused on whether to back an untrustworthy frog faced twat or stick with a Conservative Party that was beyond incompetent in government. They just concentrate on slagging off labour, in the main; and are still trying to understand the Green Party! They are so out of step on the EU – and America, their readership is stuck in the last century. Sun at the moment but rain for the next few days!

THE ART OF NEGOTIATION

Something that America and Trump have not learnt. “Iran did not accept our demands” is no way to negotiate. Similar comments are being made regarding Cuba ‘Regime change is essential”. Without a negotiated settlement Trump has boxed himself into a corner; he either negotiates and compromises or he attempts genocide (is there a better definition of genocide other than the destruction of a civilisation. He has already wreaked chaos on the world economy, inflation and his unpopularity in America and elsewhere is rising, China is benefiting diplomatically as it steps into the vacuum created by his insanity. The lurch towards fundamental christian lunatics is of concern to all secular societies. Serious talks are occuring regarding the demise of NATO.

Meanwhile in the UK a rich privileged pervert called Crispin Odey has dropped his libel claim for £79m from the Financial Times and is libel for costs. How were these entitled dickheads brought up? It has never occured to me to grab a womans breasts (Odey) or their genitals (Trump). As a tutor at Eton said regarding Boris Johnson “he thinks the rules of society do not apply to him”.

Sunny and bright but a chilly wind here. Wallflowers brilliant.

CAPITALISM

Worshiped by the rich and bullies. Basic economics is a fantasy world where the powerful manipulate the rules. Basic human requirements were monetised in this country by Thatcher who sold off our basic utilities for a short term electoral boost and lining the pockets of her wealthy supporters. She would have privatised air if she could have found a way. Basic economics says that the price of a good should be determined by supply and demand. But this is a made up law esconced as as a fact when it does not have to be so. Thatcher allowed the oil companies to benefit from our North Sea oil and then squandered the income form taxing them on ‘breaking’ the unions. She also sold of affordable housing thus creating the current crisis of poverty and homelessness. Farmers could be paid guaranteed amounts for food stuffs (hmmm. memories of the EU C.A.P.?) and thus basic foods could be affordable to all. Petrol and diesel costs are a little more problematic as we need to transition away from them. However more could be done to reduce emissions with greater grants for EV’s especially vans – lorries will take longer, but transitioning to a more local economy would be a step in the right direction – baby steps rather than giant sized ones that only big business can afford. Small is beautiful and economies of scale offset by local production in many fields.

Meanwhile the Mail has decided to join the game of demanding that we drill for more gas and oil – with no mention that this would do nothing, absolutely jack shit, to salve the present crisis. The telegraph whines abot half term flight costs rising (my heart bleeds); The Times leads on the Chagos Islands (really who gives a fuck!), and the Express supplements an old codgers pension with a comment from a 101 year old ‘D-Day hero” whose views obviously are important? The Sun has a leader about a shoplifting epidemic, which is a fair topic,, but without mentioning the cause or the depletion of our police force (a friend has just enrolled and has 18 hour shifts – fucking madness. The FT has recorded record 2 year high inflation levels in the USA. Why have they not impeached the the geriatric, senile, dementia ridden, mad, dangerous paedophile is puzzling.

TIME FOR A RESET

The war in Iran has created a reset of not just relationships in the Middle East, but society generally. So start with NATO – Trump has contempt for it; firstly he threatens to invade Greenland (Danish) and then gets in a sulk over the lack of support for his illegal war. So the UK and Europe now need to get their acts together to form a European Alliance with Europpean weapons (we wait to see if Hungary will join with the EU or spin out to Russia?

Secondly there needs a to be a surcharge on all firms, that avoids tax evasion, and forces them to pay towards the infra-structure that they benefit from. Whilst they can claim to contribute to the NHS via N.I. Employer contributions, their tax avoidance means they contribute nothing to other government expenditure. e.g. Amazon uses the roads, vast amounts of electricity and contributes – FA.

Thirdly political funding. Trump supporters have raised about 3X the Democrats for the mid-term elections. It is similar here with the rich contributing to Farages lies and Labour being bankrolled by the unions. Whilst I appreciate that the union contribution may balance the rich boys club – neither should be allowed. Adverts should have to be factually accurate, etc.

Fourthly – the cost of living. I am retired and my mortgage paid off – no problem. The real problem is the cost of housing. Rent controls would reduce the number of investors in property and bring down rents – this would result in reduced mortgages.

NEED VERSUS WANT

In a post shared to Truth Social after the meeting, the US President said: “NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON’T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN.”
Yet again Trump shows his ignorance by confusing the words need and want like many under-5’s do. He wanted the legitimacy that other NATO countries would have given him, whether he needed help in an illegal war against an opponent whose defensive capabilitis had been degraded is unlikely. Any NATO allie who signed up would be guilty of war crimes. The Israeli killing of civilians continues with 254 Lebanese men, women and children slaughtered overnight. Ceasefire talks will continue but Trump has created a weak hand in negatiatons; Iran is not bowed by expletive ridden threats to end a civilisation, it remains capable of controlling or at least disrupting the Strait of Hormuz. No doubt the rw media will treat any agreement as a victory for him.

Meanwhile latest figures reveal that over 75% of our energy needs come from fossil fuels. This reveals a need to expand alternative sources of power for both domestic and industry. And interestingly an observation that people on benefits are better off than those working. Obviously by working they are referring to those on minimum wage and zero hours contracts. Whilst not totally dismissing this argument as right wing bullshit; it should be passociated with two major points. 1. People in council houses (the few, that are left after Thatcherism) do not own their properties and therefore gain no long term financial benefit from house improvements. And 2. why are so many on benefits when working full time for comapanies making huge profits and paying bonus’s of £millions. A fucked up society where thoughts are controlled by billionnaires in control of the media.

TACO

Trump is becoming renderable – the louder and more absurd his bluster is, the less likely he is to follow through. This time he may have been advised that his planned assault on Iran would constitute a major war crime, from which it wouldbe difficult to hide. Netanyahu however has no such quarms and has vowed to continue the deaths of Lebanese children – or anyone else who just happens to be unfortunate enough to be at home when their houses are destroyed. I have some understanding for why Israel is attacking Hezbollah but no sympathy for them. Their actions on the West Bank led to the Hamas attack and their population will never be allowed a peaceful existence – in fact Jews around the world have found that discrimination is on the rise. No doubt Trump will claim a triumph in the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without any sense of irony that before his illegal attack there was no problem. It will also be interesting to see if the embattled government of Iran has enough power to police their own people. The 25th Amendment should be implemented before he does more damage. His press secretary claims that the President “is the most well-read person in the room” – sorry that is not a vindication but a damning appraisal of those in the room!

Vance meanwhile is in Hungary to offer to support to a man who has been quoted as saying that he is at Putins service. Americans seem to not understand irony – Vance complains that the EU is interferring in the election – his geography also seems weak, Hungary is a member of the EU not part of America!

Mean while at home the UK is using renewables to generate 57.1% of our electricity with gas down to 13.9%. (figures for yesterday at 10am). So why are the RWPress claiming that renewables are a waste of time – they have already reduced our import bill by 42% (last years figures). Lets get this figure much higher and then we will not be vulnerable to the vultures in the fossil fuel market –

EVIL

The horror story continues. Trump’s threats to Iran are, it is agreed by almost every lawyer in the USA to be a war crime if he carries them out. Would Starmer then ban him from entering the UK? Many countries in Europe would. Will American venture capitalists withdraw their investments in support of Trump – I doubt it.

Meanwhile in the UK the trash papers concentrate on the doctors dispute rather than having to admit that the icon of the far right is fuckin’ mad! I wonder if Israel would draw back if its pile of anti-drone missiles become depleted. Will the Gulf States continue to support America when boats for the far east pass through the Strait of Hormuz unmolested? The Gulf States are socially very conservative and therefore not over the moon at the illegal American/Israeli attack on Iran. A photo of Trump outside the White House with a rabbit – which had the most intelligence? Trump may or maynot have stopped fucking little girls – he has moved on to fucking whole populations of tens of millions.

Garden

Today could reach 20C here so I have planted tomato seeds; Gardeners Delight, Alica Craig and Sweet Apertiff: also put in hot chilli seeds and a tray of Cosmos. Next will be greek basil; sweet basil and Canterbury Bells. andf random other stuff from last year! Strimming the grass tomorrow
