Starmer spoke well – but it is not enough! Basically racist Britain can be made to hide their prejucices, but it is a cancer that will always be present, even if partially hidden. The value of migrants needs to be publicised widely and loudly. The last government enabled nearly one million migrants in just one year. They are here and mostly working. Yes we can deport the illegal migrants but will the economy cope with this. The nasty little scumbags in Reform are poisoning our society. Whilst people are relatively poor they will look for places and people to vent their anger and incompetence.
So it is not just about race – but about money (always comes back to money!). This is a subject of great interest and divisiveness. Outgoings – people seem resigned to housing costs, despite the fact they have grown disproprtionately as a % against income – thus forcing mothers into full time work, often at the expensive of their childrens welfare. However tax is an issue on which many get het up about. When asked what they would cut from government spending most will quote instances of negligence of even stupidity by officials, but these are minor. They hate some people even cheat the system for benefits, but are unconcerned about the prolific and prolonged tax evasion by the rich – unless the person is a poor girl made good who makes an error of judgement! Yes councils and the civil service seem to be bloated both in personal and salaries – but is this my ignorace of the work they do and the qualifications needed? I am ranting of sorts but have not got my heart in it yet!
The one profession I can talk about is education. Senior Management rarely teach above a minimum level, and yet their salaries are 3 or 4 times higher than a main scale teacher. And they are also not doing the job they were paid to do! Schools have become obsessed with league tables and one criteria is attendance – my ex-secondary school employed someone to follow up absences – not to offer support and help, but to enable prosecutions. Do teachers join the profession due to a commitment to their students or is it just a job? I fear the latter has become more prevalent. Management observations and OFSTED are about tick boxes and numerical scores rather than observations of the teachers worth and commitment to students. Yes – I admit that I was shite at getting boxes ticked.
In my interview at Churchill School I was asked how I would teach about or refer to the National Front (precursor of Reform) – I replied that I would preface my comments by saying that I was biased – and then condemn them! Would I get the job today?
WTF is Trump saying about Gaza? Israel has spent billions $ (US?) in trying to destroy Hamas yet seem to have been very unsuccessful – unless they count civilian casualties as a success? Air attacks, bombing hospitals and schools saying they are terrorist hiding there, attacking foreign countries, and yet they have not killed Hamas as an organisation. They have probably increased its popularity (who else is standing up for Palestinians?). Attack on Qatar probably increased Arab funding. 2 years of relentless bombing and ground attacks have not destroyed Hamas. The holocaust spawned an Israeli Monster – will their genocide do the same for Hamas?
