The Government are building them a super yacht which you pay for (probably over £200 million). The sovereign Grant Fund was £85.9 million last year. Palace refurbishment is set to cost £369 million over 10 years. Add in income from Duchy of Cornwall at £20.8 million and 25% of the profit from the Crown Estate (about £75 million), and then the value of the Crown Estate portfolio (offshore wind farm licences, Regent Street) which is estimated at about £14.4 billion.
What do we get back – apart from Daily Mail readers who seem to be addicted to all things royal – not a lot. The Queen has not stood up to the incompetent buffoon or his government. I suppose the economic question is – why do we give the royals any money when they have so much anyway? The social question is how do they help the majority of this countries population? The cultural issue – we all know the answer to this.
