I ws disappointed with the eclipse, I sat outside with a glass of wine and waited for it to get darker, for the world to go quiet. By half past seven I went inside to check the time, had I got it wrong, or missed it somehow? The papers were full of it, fantastic photos, sports events that were disrupted. So i was nervous about mentioning my dispiriting experience with others. They felt the same as I did. We were not going to get a total eclipse, but 7% of bright sunshine was enough to counter the main expected impact.
