HOTTER

It is warming up – MetOff warnings for 4 days this week. I guess offices with aircon are OK but care homes and schools/hospitals will be suffering. Architects did not plan for this sort of heat when designing there ‘oh so pretty’ galss cubes. The gammons amongst us who are still harping on about net Zero shold just stfu! Energy costs have just risen again (thanks to Donald “I am a twat” Trump – so come on Andy Burnham – show some guts and levy a tax on the rich with every penny going to solar panels and wind turbines. I look out at the Mendips and would love to see wind turbines on top of the hills – especially as, with subsidised solar panels on all appropriate buildings, energy costs could be massively reduced, standard of living would rise. The energy security of the UK would be enhanced and reduce the need for increased defence spending. No need to worry about undersea cables and importing oil from countries controlled by despots and madmen!

We are approaching the mid-term elections in the USA. Will there be a swing to the left as we saw in the New York Mayoral election. No doubt the tecbros will invest $billions to ensure that this does not happen, Trump is altering electoral boudaries to ensure candidates on the right are in a better position to win. But not all of the people are stupid all of the time!

In this country are we seeing the Farage bubble gradually deflating? His endorsement of openly misogynistic candidates has misfired, and his racist views as he chases the the other right wing morons are also narrowing his support base. Many just see him for the money grabbing arsehole – that he is.

And an observation – I sort out the papers in the local shop and then stay on for a natter. Early morning is generally white vans and workmen. Non of whom buy a paper – I cannot remember any man under 50 or employed, buying a newspaper! So where do they get their news? Or a biased approximation of? The MSM have already started slagging Burnham off, they presumably have no personal stuff as they have been looking for at least 10 years.

And he has gone! Starmer resigns! Now will anyone stand against Burnham – doubtful so it should be quick and easy, without the debacle of Tory leadership changes. Will Burnham do better than Starmer – he will if he ignores the damp squibs in the city and makes Labour a party of hope again. If not I shall forever forsake Labour!
