POLLS

Interesting poll in the Observer today. They asked people who voted Cons at the last election who they would vote for next time. Only 66% said Cons again. 12% Labour, 6% LibDem and 13% Reform. This assumes that Reform will offer candidates across the country. So the right wing that is pushing for less tax, harsher immigration rules are could only hope for another 13% which means that only 75% are satisfied with government. Main gripes were the management of the NHS, management of immigration, management of the economy, and management of the pandemic. Remember that the Covid inquiry will get into full swing next month – more embarrassing times for Sunak? Only 7% consider Brexit to be an issue. Rgeions with fewest diserters were Scotland and Wales were they do not do well anyway and even there 20% said they would no longer support the Cons.

What does this mean? Firstly it seems clear that the mismanagement across the board is punishing the Party. Whilst immigration is still amongst conservative voters main concerns 53%, it is seen as less important than the NHS. It seems that even within their own party the politics of Braverman and Truss, Rees Mogg and Patel are out of touch with the majority of Cons supporters. Oh what a shame!

APPLES

My apples that I normally pick in late October are going rotton on the tree. A friend of the other side of the village said her trees were the same. It is a shame as my labels were working a treat. My backgarden is too small to attract the birds and animals that may enjoy the windfalls. No windfalls here as they are rotten before they hit the ground.

Di Redfern who writes for the Mendip Times, liked the article I sent her on Nature, and the need for less tidiness to provide shelter and homes for insects through the winter, she had planned a similar article for a future edition
