PHEW

I just cut my Hair in the garden – the birds last year took the grey strands for their very hygge nests! Thought. I would pop t-shirt and apron inn the washing machine – oh no my phone was in the pocket of the apron! Fortunately I was playing music and as soon as it went wrong I realised – thank you Apple for making the phone so well.Aggh – not so fast – it will not charge, saying it has detected water – I wait and see?

JOHNSON

My god he is pathetic. At PMQ’s he forgets that the nasty party has been in power for 12 years and still seeks to blame Labour for just about everything. He also seems to know more about what the Labour Party would do in power (Which they are not) than he does about his own party’s policies. Brexit has been a disaster and taking our place at the table will be at the OSINS (Organisation of small island nation states) – if they will have us. It would allow the liar to proclaim that we are the worlds number one small island state. Meanwhile leaders in the EU and of the USA will meet this week.

Greenhouse

22 March -lookslike being a warm one. Seeds greenhouse beginning to germinate – I have had the heater on overnight. So Santiam Sunrise tomatoes and cherry tomatoes have their first tiny leaves along with the red sunflower. No sign or Ruthje tomatoes yet – I have another 20 seeds coming which I am sharing with Aaron.

From NYTimes

War threatens to cause a global food crisis
A crucial portion of the world’s wheat, corn and barley is trapped in Russia and Ukraine because of the war, while an even larger portion of the world’s fertilizers is stuck in Russia and Belarus. The result is that global food and fertilizer prices are soaring, foreshadowing a rise in world hunger.
Since the invasion of Ukraine last month, wheat prices have increased by 21 percent, barley by 33 percent and some fertilizers by 40 percent. Compounded with the coronavirus pandemic and China’s worst wheat crop in decades, conditions could further deteriorate, officials warn. Of particular concern is that Ukrainian farms are about to miss critical planting and harvesting seasons.
This month, the U.N. said that the war’s impact on the global food market could cause an additional 7.6 million to 13.1 million people to go hungry. In February, U.S. grocery prices were already up 8.6 percent over the previous year, the largest increase in 40 years.

SHIT SHOWER

The sun is out and spring is sprung. BUT we have the most incompetent, corrupt government since ….probably the 18th or 19th Century.

So NI increases, job insecurity (P & O) via hire and rehire / zero hours contracts, police brutality (recent examples must be seen as this), MP wage rises, law changes to make it more difficult to vote or to demonstrate, laws to make compassionate acceptance of refugees more difficult, abandoning environmental laws outlawing the import of hunting trophies, not doing anything about Energy Company profits, refusing to bring water companies into line over pollution, selling off the NHS, undermining freedom of choice in education, making dodgy payments to mates during COVID, lying to Parliament and the Queen. What a list and I amend not an expert. Fucking disgraceful.

FOOTBALL

My predictions for going down are Norwich, Watford and Brentford. Although Everton might be rather nervous. Burnley have the grit about them, but are certainly at risk. Top 4 seem sort of sorted – ManC, Liverpool for title then Arsenal and Chelsea. Spurs or WHU could make a late challenge for Champions League place but I think ManU have something missing!

Of the middle table clubs – who knows? Who wants to travel to Eastern Europe for the Europa League in August? Wolves, Aston Villa, Leics, S’hpton, CPalace seem safe enough and just playing for fun? Brighton and the bar stripes should be ok.

Championship – Fulham still looking a safe bet – but my selection of Bournemouth is still ok! 3rd place subject to play offs is still open to the next 7 or 8.

Div1 – Wigan, MK Dons and Plymouth seem on fire at the moment with Rotherham in the lead. Sunderland do not have the quality but with a play off place and their crowd who knows.

Div2 – What is happening at FGR? Bristol Rovers and Newport on the charge.

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNT THIS WEEK?

Forgive me for being a teacher here!

Putin may have misjudged the Ukraine situation badly, but there does not seem to be an easy exit strategy that is acceptable.  Territory controlled by Russian military forces is less than I would have expected, and secondly, is it controllable – even the areas he thought would be laying rose petals for him seem to be ‘difficult’.

Putin is a very nasty individual who does not value human beings.  Talk of a war crimes tribunal is fantasy land for the papers and as about as likely at the moment as the 3rd Unicorn Regiment sweeping the area with support from the 2nd Pacific Mermaid Battalion. I wish I had some artistic talent as I could see some great cartoons here!

P&O is controlled by nasty individuals who do not value human beings.  Who Johnson met last week?

Jacob Rees-Mogg is a nasty individual who does not value human beings.  I agree with Jonathann Pie – he is a C****.

I could go on…. Johnson is twat, etc.  There are so many nasty tories out there – Elphick, Dorries, Raab, etc.

But there was a serious point when I started this post!  Has the west learnt that smaller actions lead to bigger ones?  Chechnya – Syria – Ukraine.  And also the need to have a world presence which this country diminished with Brexit – which also weakened the EU as we probably have one of the most respected foreign office civil service in the world (albeit lead by fuckwits).

I read with interest comments about a 2 hour phone call between Biden and XI,  the length of the call is heartening – of course they do not agree, on just about everything, but they are discussing.

China – the right wing in this country vilify this country.  It has faults, many heinous, but diplomacy requires accommodation and compromise.  The treatment of the Uyghur population cannot be seen to be acceptable – but do we really think this British Government would treat a minority any better?

Also a question – do countries go through a series of events?  Is there a British/Western belief that all countries will eventually fall into the western capitalist consumerist pattern.

Obviously Putin is a **** but is there an element of caution to be expressed here?  Our political system is not universally accepted or acceptable.  My own belief is that globalisation as we know it is due to fail.  This is not doom mongering as what follows will eventually be better!

DO BIRDS FART?

I have just watched a greenfinch eating from my bird feeder like a glutton. Will it fall off due to excess weight or suddenly fart and fly across the garden like a super finch? Just sayin’
