BLAMING THE YOUNG

I believe the they should be vaccinated, but the government needs to make the case for them. I think that I as a 20 year old might have asked why I should be vaccinated against something unlikely to cause me any symptoms. The vaccine is so new, and not trialed in the traditional way, that we do not know for certain about any long term effects. It is probably a 99% certainty that there is no long term problems, but why take any risk? Yes there is a good argument for why, but it is not being made by government.

Giving discounts on takeaways and Uber/Bolt defies logical analysis. Giving all under 30’s a variety of tokens might be more beneficial for the economy if they get vaccinated. The places they might like to go, but be denied entry could be offered. Money off entry to sports events (football, rugby, etc.), night clubs, festivals, cinemas. This would benefit areas of the economy that have suffered most, be most useful to the young and really encourage vaccination. Using National Insurance number could also enable targets to chose from a list.

HSBC announce record profits which will benefit the old via pension funds and investments. The present version of capitalism is flawed and must change. I hope I am wrong about this, but if we have a hot 3rd week in August I think it is quite possible that we may see civil disobedience on the streets of our cities.
