CIRCUIT BREAKER

troops on the streets are being advocated by the righteous bigots of the I am OK generation, FU! We are asking those who are least affected to make the biggest sacrifices, ones which will affect their life chances for years to come. Basically why should 20 somethings who are likely to become unemployed shortly, are unlikely to suffer if they get Covid-19, are not living with any vulnerable people, not want to socialise and have a goodish time?

I am old and live alone, but don’t feel sorry for me. I have the internet, books, a garden, hobbies, a family (via Skype/FaceTime/whatever). I can chose to isolate without too much hassle (I hope I do not regret these words!), I get my paper and shopping early’ish and only speak to a coupe of people at at least the 1m social distance. I have the ability to get home delivery or click and collect. Privileged I am, but not actually that wealthy (my work pension is about 70% of the average teachers pension).

I can see no problem with people going to play sports and socialising afterwards. Social distancing is up to them. Those with vulnerable dependants will not be able to participate (by their own decision). Old people (over 50? or 60?) will have to accept that they have a responsibility both to themselves and the NHS to stay away.
