COVID RAMBLINGS

So maybe we do need a ‘circuit breaker’ – but it needs to be in conjunction with a follow up – or else it is pointless.

My answer is localisation. We have allowed commercial enterprises to convince us that we need bucket lists of places to visit, things to see, things to do. I am not against this, but the commercial enterprises do not make a profit from promoting the beauty of nature on our doorstep. I am sure I would not get the same thrill at seeing the Mona Lisa, the view from wherever, as I did when a sparrow hawk briefly paused on a table on the patio after losing its pursuit of a blackbird (which was complaining bitterly!).

The less we travel, the less the virus can spread. The easier it will be for test and trace to sort out, if it can sort itself out. Let pubs and restaurants open to local people at any time. Restrict movements on main routes out of covid hotspots. That actually sounds horrible – but if non-essential trips were stoped it should have a positive effect without too much hassle?
