ELECTRIC CARS

To my mind the only justifiable criticisms are : – lack of charging points (but this is changing rapidly) – and there are fewer petrol stations – but anyone who runs out of petrol is mocked, running low on charge for an electric car is headlines. :- Lack of solutions for houses/flats with only on street parking (and no designated parking space). :- Cost of batteries (although guaranteed for 8 years). How will this impact on second hand market?

Would the last criticism be offset by the minimal replacement of others parts? Will cars be better built – or have more obsolescence built in? Cars have hardly varied in design for 20 years – gone are the days of the Ford Anglia, Ford Consul, Vauxhall Viva designs of 1960’s and 70’s! Which makes me think – with batteries rather than the internal combustion engine and exhaust systems etc., will cars have a big redesign?

PS. Most of the noise of normal cars comes from the tyres friction with the road at speeds where most serious injuries occur.
