This funding is interesting, I understand why many sane people still support the basic fundamentals of the Tory/Nasty Party, but these people are not zealots or fanatics. But by funding those who are in the Conservative party they are distorting democracy. Time to stop all political donations (other than basic membership fees)?
The rise again of the Reform Party. Basically it is down to racism or archaic beliefs on “White Britain”. Braverman and Sunak are agin pushing the migrant line. The Channel crossings could be virtually solved by a proper and legal route for asylum seekers – this is denied by the government who know there is political capital to be made by allowing the Channel Crossings. Forceable transfer to Rwanda is neither legal or moral – if it was given as an option? Albanians is an interesting element. Records show that most are young and male – and we need fit and male workers? Durhh! Create training facilities and steer them away from gangs. I will get on to demographics later! I am not sure the Reform Party is about anything else – probably anti-woke (which I still do not understand), and will probably pick on other vulnerable groups if necessary.
So demographics. Firstly the current problem or two. Sickness claimants have risen by over a million in the last 3/4 years. Some of this may be down to long covid, but the number is for PIP/DLA claims = 4 million. The total number of people claiming DWP benefits = 22+ million. I know that is mainly pensioners but is still high. Unemployment is lowish but distorted by zero hours contracts. If ever a sector needs sorting it is this. How many people have disabilities that prevent them from working from home via a computer and face time? Yet the wealth of 177 billionaires has increased in the UK by over 9% in 2022. Why has the UK population grown so rapidly under the Tories?
If there are all these mega rich people why are they not investing in R&D in UK companies? Truss wanted to cut their taxes saying it would stimulate the economy – there is only negative evidence of this. So there is plenty of money available to pay proper wages to all. Society also needs to look rapidly at the old. Retiring when fit and healthy is a right they have earned. However their knowledge and expertise in many jobs should not be written off so easily. The state pension is paid to 12.4 million who have funded this by tax and Nat.Ins. But why does society just write off this knowledge and experience?
Housing – are there too many people like me? 3 bedroom house (not big enough for children family to stay)! I guess I should down size and pay for hotel for children/grandchildren to visit? I think there is a real opportunity in the market here for something! I do not know what or I would be rich! Various places are now upping the council tax on second homes which seems sensible. Rents are out of control (but for many landlords necessary). Thatcher basically fucked the housing market by selling off council houses and not replacing them. It is all Greenfield new housing round here.
Unions – if employers were not bastards they would not be needed.
