However – I must state that the headline in the Express this morning had a smattering of truth – Formula 1 engineers in the UK have given us a world lead – could this be replicated in defence. We all know that the ‘Dad’s Army” approach is as archaic as bows and arrows. But defence against cyber and drone attack is now the front line. Perhaps we need an army of ‘bedroom geeks’ with massive skill on keyboard and gaming. We also need to get rid of the over-privileged public boy employees in our – yes our,n civil service. We need people who have not passed exams due to private tuition and rote learning, but who are prepared to think with imagination and disruption.
