Flu jabs held up due to lack HGV drivers. An acquaintance who has applied for an HGV was told that after a couple of weeks his letter had not been opened due ‘ to staff problems’. I guess that would be an outbreak of paper cuts – it is not difficult to open a letter (unless you know it is a bill you cannot pay!).

This article from the Guardian is just what is needed to cheer us up.

EARTHQUAKE
We have not had a major earthquake for a while. With climate change glaciers are melting, thus transferring a huge weight of water from the land to the sea. readjustment must be expected.
HURRICANE LARRY
With winds above 130kph this hurricane looks to be heading for Bermuda avoiding the Caribbean and mainland North America.
BREXIT
CocoCola (shortage of cans), McDonald’s and Nando’s all report supply chain problems. Exports of food stuffs to the EU are down by £2billion (with a small increase to the rest of the world). From 1 October imports containing animal products will require health certificates and pre-notification of shipment. Covid cannot be blamed for a shortfall of 100000 HGV drivers or 20000 meat packaging workers or 20000 agricultural workers.
HELP
Sitting in meetings we would play jargon bingo, or I would see how fast I could write the states of America or countries of Africa. However I need help to score a game identifying the most useless ministers, ludicrous statements, complete lies, ineptitude, absence, how do I score this? Not only should the score come up on TV monitors, but also a weekly league table could be shown.
HURRICANE IDA
This hurricane has continued to wreak havoc as its wind intensity diminishes. Its capacity for rain though has caused multiple deaths in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Meanwhile in the mid-Atlantic Hurricane Larry has already recorded wind speeds close to 130kph. Its course is too early for great predictions but could cause problems in a weeks time. At present it looks like it could cause problems in the Bermuda region and then then Canadas Atlantic provinces, having been deflected away from the USA coast by the jet stream. It is only the start of September so we can expect more activity over the next 6-8 weeks.
