BUDGETS

The Conservative party is now wracked by the dichotomy of its own philosophical contradictions and its inability to reach dialectic thinking. It believes in financial responsibility and limiting government spending (apart from atom bombs) but is having to spend money like water to keep various sectors of the economy viable, let alone public health costs. But it also believes in low taxes, so the options of taxing the rich are also avoided. And the public pays the bill. And energy companies and the mineral companies are taking profits of obscene proportions (paying out dividends to the rich) with no thought of patriotism and the public good, let alone the welfare of workers in poorer countries who suffer intolerably for their profits. Oh dear -this is turning into a rant!

What I fear is more austerity from a government which has enriched a few at the expense of the many. Careful examination of many industries will reveal unlearnt profits. Housing companies should be paying to nationalised water companies to enable water supplies and waste disposal. Houses should be mandated to have solar panels. NHS contracts should be examined for propriety, as should all government contracts. I am sure there are many more cases.
