TIME FOR ACTION

Rishi Sunak is the Chancellor, not the Prime Minister, therefore whilst he should be being careful with the cash, he should also be finding ways to meet the requirements required by climate change. He is rightly concerned about the cost falling on the poorest members of society – so tax the rich and prevent assets being moved offshore. Raise the minimum wage to a living wage. It is simple maths to see that e.g. a 10% rise in wages will not = a 10% rise in costs as wages are only part of the cost. Therefore the poor will have more money to spend even if inflation hikes the prices a bit. If they want to join Branson in the W.I. so be it, their assets will remain. They could sell their houses thus reducing the prices. Increase corporation tax on foreign owned investments (although this could be offset by investment in the the company in this country).

We are out of the EU so abolish VAT and replace with a variable purchase tax based necessity versus luxury and the sustainability of the product.

Politics – Labour seem to be Dona tory party on this, trying to ensure they do not upset people by demanding action. And fighting the battle within between red tories and true labour. The greens have their own election campaign to sort out, the libdems are … missing. Farage is making a bid to come back as the king of contradiction and lord of the bigots, Climate change is, according to him, over exaggerated nonsense whilst at the same time stating that we will be overcome by climate refugees – idiot.

Meanwhile temperatures in Spain are heading for the upper 40’s C. Turkey now has floods to contend with, Dixie carries on, Greece still burns, but don’t worry folks it won’t happen here (until it does).
