BLUE SKY

I have joined the illustrious and growing group of people quitting X. Stephen King, Jamie Lee Curtis, The Guardian. I have tried Threads and Mastodon but neither seems to be as smooth. Blue Sky ticks the right boxes for now! With 16 million users (one million in last week) it is growing fast. Easy to use and deceptively like X it could be a real competitor for posting.

TRUMP

I so wish it did not matter that he was elected. His appointments to his cabinet are beyond the absurd! A Health Secretary who is anti-vax; an Atorney General who is anti-democratic, has been accused of under-aged sex trafficking, and is hard right; an Ambassador to the UN who has criticised it frequently; A head of intelligence with claims of being groomed by Russia against her; Defence Secretary is a presenter on Fox News ad has no military experience.

America – you are a load of fuckwits. I get that Muslims did not vote for Harris as she is pro-Israeli; I even get that the poor are pissed off with the cost of living rises. I even vaguely understand the NIMBY attitude to migration “I was an immigrant, but now is enough”. But what conned you into thinking that Trump is not an egoistic stupid and vindictive c***.

COP OFF!

Emissins from fossil fuels continue to rise. Trump denies climate change. Badenoch states at PMQ that pledges by Starmer will cost the tax payer. UN Secretary-General, Guterres states that 2024 has been a disaster for the planet and children. Oh and Musk states that UN should have no power as it is not elected (mmmm! pot-kettle-black!).

So we have record destruction across the world with hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes, droughts and floods; sea level is rising causing coastal erosion. Species are becoming extinct and ecosystem stress increasing on all continents and oceans.

How much worse does it need to get before real action? Or will the libertarians of the right create bigger issues to occupy people? Like migration?

GREEN ENERGY

Starmer has delivered a first salvo in the bid for green energy. $27m per gigawatt for off shore wind must be a good incentive? It would be good if he could do something similar for household solar? This would reduce the pressure on the National grid and could be a spur for electric vehicles. Could we bring back the milk cart concept – delivery vehicles for parcels and the Royal Mail generally could benefit. And as soon as batteries become an affordable snd viable option we could take millions of houses off grid. My vision for Sandford would be increasing houses with solar panels, then having a couple of wind turbines on the hill to supplement in winter. Banwell could investigate the possibility of a water turbine from the spring under the bowling green and wind turbines on the hill. Winscombe could have wind as well. So that would be 15000 off the grid entirely! I also think people are prepared to invest in green energy as long as the pay back time is less than 10 years. (average residence time for home owners is 21 years). Garages are rarely used for cars, so battery storage or even the fireplaces and chimneys?

If Trump really does dismantle Bidens green initiative it could open up the UK for major new investments to which end the government is making it easier to invest in green initiatives in the UK. In fact if there are tarrifs imposed on UK products by Trump it may galvanise the govt. to reopen trade discussions with the EU. The main power houses of the EU would surely welcome a centre-left ally? France, Italy and Germany have a growing prescence due to migration, but the populations remain pro-EU at the last count!

Underfloor heating should be a technology that should not be left to the Romans! Surely better than radiators?

CLIMATE

Private aviation is making a growing contribution to climate change, with many being used as ‘taxis’ for distances less than 50km, according to a study.

In the study – led by Stefan Gossling, a professor at Linnaeus University in Sweden – the researchers aimed to quantify the contribution private aviation makes on climate change.

To do this they analysed the flight tracker data of more than 18.6 million private flights, which were flown by 25,993 registered business jet-type private aircraft over a four-year period from 2019 to 2023.

JEWS

When will too far be recognised? Much has been said about a state having the right to protect itself. Surely this right is extended to a race of people. Israel, a Jewish nation, is conducting a regeme of ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank whilst the world watches and nods approval. International press are banned from Gaza and local press have been targeted and killed.

Government officials and politicans in all countries express disgust at the victimisation of Macabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam. The Guardian did manage to include towards the end of its report, that Macabi fans had assaulted an Arab taxi driver, had ignored the minutes silence for flood victims in Spain and had been chanting about the deaths of children in schools in Gaza.

I know this does not excuse violence, but it does reveal a deep seated hatred by Jews of Arabs. Gary Lineker was correct – Israeli teams should be banned from international competition.

I also do not understand how anyone can remain in a religeon that is so vile? 70% of victims killed in Gaza are womaen and children. These deaths are a stain on the Jewish religeon. Religeons are fantasy land excuses for the creation of a ruling class and the sunjugation of the poor and less priviledged anyway.

Starmer has a Jewish wife – are his children Jewish? Just like patriotism and nationalism I am bewildered by the acceptance of rational people, totally irrational laws! and rules.

EXAMS

Labour Education Minister has said too much emphasis is put on exams. I totally agree. This is not to say that exams are irrelevant, but that other aspects are also very important. The exam system favours a certain proportion to the detriment of others. Society has undervalued other qualifications. the whole system is defiunct.
