Is America being humiliated by Iran? Having spent about $30-40 billion on wreaking destruction it cannot control the Strait of Hormuz. All Iran needs is a few drones and a few mines ,easily deployed, by even rickety dhows, to bring international trade to a virtual standstill. Russia will love the price of oil and gas going up so will probably supply Iran with the necessaries. China apparently has garnered a large oil reserve by thinking ahead, and India will get oil from Russia. So Trump claiming that the war was almost over seems a little premature. Hesgeths Christian fanatisism is not popular with the rest of the world and America’s status is diminished. Will this be another Vietnam? America has stopped short of bombing Iran’s chief oil terminus in the Gulf – for obvious reasons – the cost of oil would go ballistic along with worldwide inflation. The quicker that the US gets Trump and his cronies under lock and key – the better!
Starmer meanwhile needs to stop US bombers taking off from the uk. And a massive injection of public funds into our utilities is urgent. Water and alternative energy need public finance injections. And unlike the much needed NHS ones these should be profitable!
