AN ENVIRONMENTAL GEOGRAPHY PROJECT

Gardens judged by 1. Number of plants other than grass. 2. Number of different species. 3. % grass cover. 4. Insects observed (scale of 0-3; none to abundant). 5. Other environmental improvements.

This is too complicated – the idea is great. So I would give my front garden 8/10; Al and Laura 4/10; Roy and Liz 1/10; people with plastic grass 0/10. I guess this is subjective, maybe a 0-4 scale with a descriptive criteria. That would mean most get 0 or 1, I would get 3 and will need a log pile or bee hotel to get 4.

I also need to get a digital thermometer to assess the impact of my garden objectively. Compare temperature between cut lawn and herb patch – it will obviously be lower in the shade of the sage bush – is this relevant? How can it be done objectively?
