This recipe for Baguettes is bit of a faff so I hope they come out ok. Recipe says preparation time is 30 minutes! First make the poolish (10 minutes) then leave overnight, then knead for at least 10 minutes, then leave for 90 minutes, then then roll out, then cook for 20 minutes! But is raining all day so why not!
WEATHER -South West
Forecast for next month is more of the same with possibility of dry interludes (and colder). Flooding would seem highly probable in areas like the levels which already have a severe flood risk warning. Predictions months ago were for this weather system. It should keep energy use down. Those living by the coast the highest spring tides are due on21/1; 22/2; 23/3 and 21/4 in the next 4 months. Should high rainfall and high spring tides coincide it could lead to some major problems.
NHS
The main stream press treat the NHS as a private entity (that’s what they hope). It is Govt. run (badly)by largely unqualified people. Health Trusts are offering fast track operations at a cost, thus putting the poor further away from the operations they need.
Corrupt to the core. Whilst the right wing are plotting against Sunak to push their own rabid anti-mjgrant and racist policies. The Brexit bonfire they are looking for may well ignite more than they can cope with!
MUSIC VIDEOS
First and it will take a lot of beating Pink Floyd 400
LABOUR
Starmer has said there will be no great spend if Labour win the next election. This may be prudent but the economy is stagnant and needs a boost. After World War 2 plans were already in place to create the NHS, introduce a new education system, build new towns, create National Parks, build many council houses. Renew city centres. Not all were fantastically successful but the vision and energy was there. Is it asking too much for the same vision and energy from Labour? The NHS needs restructuring and re-energising, as does education. The climate crisis is affecting wildlife and the environment and will. need drastic reforms of countryside laws including agriculture and the estates of the mega wealthy. Our energy sector has the potential to increase on the 26.8% of electricity sourced from wind last year and increase solar production whilst reducing consumption with insolation. The rail network needs renationalising as does water – but these will have to wait, although failed franchises on the railways can be required without compensation and targets for the water industry could do the same.
WEATHER -JANUARY 7TH
What a shitty day. Not cold, cold but windy wet and grey and feels cold! We have had a lot of rain this year! This looks to be the pattern for the next few weeks with just a few dry days. A major storm in the few weeks would cause a lot of flooding.
HOUSING
Still the greatest problem for any government. Costs are still rising, renting is increasing whilst home ownership falls (half a million less than 10 years ago). Is it cynical to ask who makes money from this situation?
FREE SCHOOL DINNERS
Dinner should be an important part of the school. day – not something consumed on the hoof. It should be planned, chosen, sourced, environmentally and socially assessed, priced, prepared, cooked, served, assessed for nutrition, washed up too! An educational and social experience
ROYALTY
Basically I am just enjoying the shitshow! Harry, it seems, has been told by his therapist to get his anger off his back and lay it out in public. Whilst the family are keeping shrumm. It amazes me at how entertaining people are finding this and are able to give their unqualified and uninformed options without shame! Those who want him stripped of his title should be aware that if this can be done, it could be done to the lot of them, from Charlie down! And it had gone quiet on Andrew again (whom incidentally seems not to have broken any English Laws other than acting like a complete overprivileged prick!).
There would seem to be less and less reason to treat the royals with respect or deterrence. Main stream media, especially some newspapers are reliant on the controversy for sales, especially the Mail, Sun, Express and Torygraph. Great escapism from the financial horrors inflicted by 12 years of Tory rule
WARM WEATHER
Record temperatures across Europe with several countries recording the warmest January temperatures ever. Ski resorts lacking snow and temperatures above 20C in Switzerland. When will the climate deniers give up? And more importantly when will the politicians act?
With gas prices falling there is less urgency to replace fossil fuels from the poverty aspect, however the severe changes in weather patterns in the last couple of months (North America’s record low temps.) should not be ignored.
