The press for once behaved with a certain amount of dignity in reporting the facts about the tragedy in Switzerland – that is except for the Daily fucking Mail which had to speculate on the cause and apportioned blame to sparklers used in champagne cocktails. No dignity, no shame, just a blame culture. They were all put out upside down today! Of course there are questions to be asked, and future tragedies avoided – but mindless speculation is pointless and disrespectful.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Let us hope 2026 is better than 2025! However I doubt it. Israelies will continue to kill Palestinians with the support of the orange man baby. Putin will continue to kill Ukrainians despite Trump claiming that he had negotiated peace. On Trump – GB News (joke) aired an interview where he stated that human induced climate change was a hoax (he obviously does not understand the word); that Sahria Law was used in London and the police were frightened to enter some parts of London. OFCOM is deciding whether to investigate! What is it with OFCOM and OFWAT that make them so useless – can their accounts be made public and questioned.
Bold Politics – at last there is a podcast that counters the proliferation of right wing ones. Zac Polanski has shown that he is willing to take on all comers. And whilst GBNews (sic) loses about £50m a year, spreading the word may well work. It is undoubtably true that people are fed up with the try-partite politics of old. Until know, and since the referendum, Reform have filled the gap for the unsatisfied. Diversification of politics is in some ways inevitable, but also it is not a one sided coin. The NY Mayoral election showd that the left is not defeated. If racism was extracted from polls I actually wonder if most people would go down the centre left?
And to read the shite press you would think that the UK economy is tanking under higher taxes, etc.. But FTSE 100 Index is up 21.5%. Daily shit papers please explain? Or is Labour just shit at readjusting wealth?
JUST ANOTHER DAY
England changed its calendar in 1752, adopting the Gregorian calendar by dropping 11 days in September (making September 2nd the 14th) and moving the start of the new year from March 25th to January 1st, bringing it in line with most of Europe. Richard Osman stated that the latter makes more sense – I disagree! The 25th March (Lady Day) makes much more sense for the new year; new growth and spring, the possibility for an early b-b-q and planting new seeds for future growth. NYDay is also too close to Xmas so a fixed holiday replacing the archaic Easter rabbit nonsence would be welcome. Another thought – the spread of colds and ‘flu’ would be reduced with a spring festival. Also the financial new year is 6 April which probably dates back to the old calendar? The more I think about it, the more attractive a spring festival is. Most people have no daily connection with nature so a festival rejoicing in the wonders of the environment would be great.
Whilst on dates ! – could St.Valentines Day be made a public holiday with a view to increasing the birth rate? Just a thought.
BRITISHNESS
According to a latest YouGov survey one in three believe that being born in Britain defines Britishness! Thank fuck for that – Boris Johnson is not British (born New York) – so he can just fuck off along with many others. But it does raise the question of what is being British? To my mind it has always been a certain confidence in where we are from! We do not have to shout about our heritage – we just are! The old houses, churches and castles are part of our past, the bones of who we are. Various ‘invasions’ or migrants have made this country a vibrant microcosim of the world. We do not need to boast about being British – we just are. Is there a racist element to my analysis? I do not think so- It is not dependant on skin colour or religion.
If we did a survey of flag shaggers we would find that being British means abusing women and children – especially girls! Fortunately being British is more than that; To my mind it is being prepared to stand up and being countered for justice and fairness. That is what we are – a fair minded people, who give a shit!

PAPERS
Today the papers did not have much to report, but apart from the red tops and the Guardian, the bitterness was still promoted by the usual wankers. Who shall we hate today does not take a Xmas break! Is it our unpredictable weather that causes the personality defect in so many people. It is a trait of hating change that gives the right-wing power over the populous. After all who with any intelligence would support the £millions spent on the fancy dress lives of royalty and the continueing support for the aristocracy?
So the weather makes us suseptable to promises of stability. After all there is a Chinese curse that says “May you ive in interesting times”! Do other countries love moaning as much as the British seem too. It always too cold, hot, dry, wet, overcast, windy, murky, etc. . This also affects media stars – anyone who has managed to become ‘famous’ should be aware that the media will be looking for any excuse to pop their bubble. An example – who gives a fuck about a family dispute in the Beckham family – the media think we should all give a fuck. And if that person is less than 100% white and British they should look out!
NIGERIA
I suppose a welcome should be made for the USA attack on Boko Haram. The abduction and use of young women should be worthy of several airstrikes! Bastards! But things are never this simple – the terrorist group obviously has copious funding from somewhere (Middle East States look to be most culpable). France has recently withdrawn militarily from the region – so there is a vacuum. Will China try to fill it? America despite Trumps isolationism seems to be getting involved in various places. Yemen, Venezuela and Nigeria – where next?
Hey it is Boxing Day – shame about lack of Premiership matches – Boxing Day used to the day of derby’s before the suits took over. I have fond memories of Ipswich Town versus WHU at Portland Road – the heavy scent of tobacco over the terraces where we stood against an iron bar. No idea of the year or the result!
’tis the time of year for lists.
Best football story – a tie between Sunderland, Curacao, and Sao Tome and Principe. Politican with worst bullshit – Again a close run thing between Trump and Farage with Truss desperately trying make an impact longer than a cos lettuce. Worst lie – Peace in Gaza – death stalks Palestinians and Israel continues to defy UN regarding the occupation and killings on the West Bank of the Jordan River. The ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM! Climate change continues to be ignored despite …TFO…. Most hyped sports event – Ryder Cup – who actually gives a fuck about multi-millionaires preening themselves whilst facing abuse from right wing thugs. Christmas Cake time!

ORANGE MAN BABY CRISIS
So Trump is suing the BBC for $5billion – and the BBC say they will defend the claim. NO! They should just tell him and his lawyers to fuck off! If that means not reporting from the USA – so be it. His version of the news will be put out on social media anyway.
Basically all news is interpretive. GB News has been accused of false claims many times already. Who is the arbitor of what is fair reporting anyway? Did Trump say those words – yes! So if the BBC had cut to just the few seconds there should be no problem? This is all about press freedom – something supposedly dear to the him and MAGA; unless of course he disagrees. I am minded of the late Arthur Scargill – apparently he read 2 newspapers – obviously the Daily Worker but said he always read the Financial Times first so he could get the facts before comment! Some papers thrive on comment more than others. I am aware of the ownership issues but feel that the Times tries to report the news first and comment second; and I fervently hope the Guardian does the same. The Express, Mail and Sun are shameless in selective reporting and unsupported comment – I am ashamed that citizens of the UK are so crass as to read such bile. Unfortunately I should also include the ipaper (now owned by the Express, Telegraph (ownership is a fight between right-wing groups) and the Mirror (although on the left – still using biased discretion regarding news stories. The Star is just for laughs and some great headlines (Truss lettuce being the most memorable)!
Most of us veer towards echo chambers for our views – the rabid right towards the RWP and their own social media sites. I too have blocked those I totally dislike from twitter – yes I am still there!
