Am I guilty of following the echo chamber? I read the Guardian and those I follow on X are decidely not racist or even Tory. I avoid listening to Tice and Farage and Rees-Mogg. However I am aware that there are arguments for lower taxation, that there may be problems resulting from the migration of the last 2 or 3 years. However older people seem to be impermeable to any discussion of topics such as the demographic time bomb facing society, climate change, etc. They believe thay have all the answers as they listen/watch/read the rancid propoganda from Tufton Street and Musk!
WOW – rant!!!
Just to slip in here CONGRATULATIONS ERIN A*, B,B, in here A levels. Effing brilliant.
Back to social media – a place for the rancid minds of racists, misogynists, etc. to hide behind the anonymity of the keyboard. Threats of horrific violence, especially towards women, can be made without recourse. At least until now – at last we have a government that is willing to stand up to the paper bullies. Even if not promoting violence they feel immune to criticism (the delete button). On which – Thanks to Andy Logan. Andy and I are far apart in that I can be (he would claim – far left), I would classify him as centre right with far right tendencies at times! We have debated often on political issues, always peaceably and I believe we usually come to a agreement of sorts that is fairly central. Andy can dispute this if he wishes!
