Probably and over simplification of the title of this blog, because it is not an either or situation. Rather a case of the balance between the two. There is no getting away from the news. Firstly, cases in North Somerset have doubled in the last week to 55 or 26 per 100000. And then there are the students ….

Recent reports from Oz and NZ suggest that the winter flu season down under was almost non-existent! Is Covid-19 the grey squirrel to the native flu red swuirrel? It makes sense to think that social distancing and mask wearing would inhibit the spread of colds and coughs. And given the cost of influenza to this country every year (£30 billion in sick days) it would seem sensible to maintain current precautionary measures into the future?

Life and things appear to be a bit difficult at the moment. Like Forest Gump said “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get”. So it is important to keep looking out for the best ones, in my case strawberry cream; but also realise that you like most of the others. I am not keen on toffee ones, but can cope with them. Be positive, even the bad times teach lessons that make you better able to handle them, and therefore able to embrace the good times.

I am not too sure how it will work out. I guess there will be recipes, environmental stuff, lots of geography, gardening bits and pieces (especially re-wilding), political comments or more likely rants! and lots of other random thoughts.
