CHIMNEYS

So I finally get around to finishing this. Just about every house has chimneys – older one have a flue for each room. But most are never used, or at least very rarely. My idea is to use the ene4rgy of my solar panels during the day to lift a weight up the chimney, and at night it could slowly fall producing electricity. Obviously I do not know the science and physics of this, but have read the this technique is being used in old mine workings on a large scale, but I wonder if it would work in a house? I live in a bungalow so I doubt I would gain much from it.
