CHINA

What we cannot do is lecture any other country on human rights with our history of depravity in the name of the Crown and commerce. We cannot also lecture other countries about CO2 emissions with our historic contribution to the atmospheric smog. And we should also not think that by getting produce from China that it does not count as part of our CO2 emission.

So buying British is good environmentally as it avoids transport costs and the emissions from coal powered stations in China (which I am sure they would love to close due to the horrific levels of pollution. But can we avoid pious comments regarding our status in developing wind power etc. Yes it is brilliant – perhaps we should export the technology free, or at least at cost, to other countries. But of course that would be an anathema to nasty party MP’s who only get out of bed if nanny has put £50 on a plate besides their breakfast.
