Of course there is a huge potential for Johnson and buddies to mis-spend on projects talked up by cronies, as we have seen with Covid. But, as there should have been from day One of Covid there should be a cross-party committee formed to steer us through the next few years. Membership would by ability and not changed by elections.
Ultimately Parliament needs to have the final say, but transparent documented from the committee would be had to refute and a politically dangerous thing to do. the public should be kept informed of the science and the economics of future actions.
Of course the anti-vaxxers will now have another topic to campaign against alongside BLM and anything considered woke. Maybe, just maybe, the proposed laws against demonstrations might backfire on the right wing looneys of the nasty party.
