The Cabinet Office says others will be attending – like Coffrey (who votes against any green agenda at every opportunity). And then an interesting development, Johnson announces that he will attend. Of the many adjectives I have used to describe BJBJ such as lay, liar, dishonest, etc. thick has not been one of them. It was pointed out by Andy last week that he got a scholarship to Oxford and was regarded as super bright (super ruthless and egoistic too).
So what is the game here? I am sure he sees it all as a game. He must feel let down by the lack of support he garnered from the Conservative Party M.P.s (62 was the highest confirmed number). Is this statement that he will attend COP27 being done out of spite and malice, of which he is capable, or is it the start of his election campaign to take over when Sunak fucks up? He can of course claim some green credentials – positive comments in the last Con Manifesto, but we have learnt the hard way that Johnson’s words and his actions are rarely in alignment. He will have noted the need to enlist younger supporters who are invariably more environmental than older voters (who also die off at about half a million a year – and have mire tory voters). This may seem a callous statement – but is one I am sure Johnson will have considered!
John Redwood of far right claim has said that the whole COP27 meeting should be online, presumably before he knew that his fellow fascists were attending! But then he is a climate change denier and an absolute NOB!
