Raab on TV last night looked like a naughty child as he tried to lie his way out of difficult questions with eyes looking for escape routes.
I would not forgive their incompetence, but the lies are totally inexcusable. Friends tried to tell me this was just politics. Not politics as I knew it in this country until Brexit. Brexit changed the landscape – lies were acceptable and did not have to be apologised for. Dirty money was acceptable, as were any tactics to achieve a win. I am not sure many pro-Brexiteers were aware of just how much influence Russia was having, but they were certainly influenced. I think the way the grandees of the Conservative party like Kenneth Clarke and Heseltine have shown how things have changed.
Johnson has taken politics into the sewer – parties with Russians, putting Putins mate into the House of Lords. Rat.
Andy also mentioned ‘Stop the War’ banners with a hammer and scycle on them. He interpreted this as being pro-Russia – ignoring the words Stop the War!.. I am sure there are some on the left who misguidedly think Russia is communist or even socialist rather than a nasty dictatorship. However he is wrong to paint all on the left in this way – which he has a tendency to do at times. I also believe these people have very valid claims regarding Palestine and the slow massacre of civilians in Gaza (I wonder what the total is of civilians killed by Israeli bombing). I know it is not that simple, but also know that it is wrong to brand any group of people with simplistic categorisations. I have been criticised for my comments about government and thus hypocrisy in what I just wrote – but really they do show amazing levels of incompetence, across the board. At least Rishi Sunak has the intelligence to keep his mouth shut, and Wallace seems to be doing a reasonable job with the poisoned chalice of his Ministry. The rest are so untrustworthy you would not let them babysit for children or grandchildren?
