The governments mixed messaging is to blame without a doubt. Trying to ascertain the facts is also difficult. It was pointed out that a more infectious variant would cause more hospitalisations even if less virulent (the 5% of 100 being bigger than 10% of 10). It seems the experts are all being rather wary – it was 6 weeks after the first recorded case of Covid back in 2019 before a death was recorded. But on the other hand it may become like the normal heavy cold associated with winters past.
Personally I think I will make sure I have good food and wine and a good book to read on Xmas Day. Hope the internet FaceTime is working and enjoy.
