DOMESTIC STUFF

Tomato chutney made – more tomorrow. I will look out for cheap fruits to make more jam, maybe apricot as, although not cheap, it is nice and is used to stick marzipan to the Christmas cake!

I have just planted some parsley in the greenhouse. I think I might get a couple of sweet peppers, but chillies! The plant I got from Cadbury had some sort of infestation (Martin bought one and his was the same) and has 2 chillies on it, the ones in the greenhouse are ok, but I am not sure how many I will get. The cucumber seems to have given up – but 7 cucumbers is ok – the leaves are going yellow – I guess I ought to look up what is going on with it, but would prefer not to have to spray. Raspberries having a quite patch but hopefully some more later. Mulberry trees again berry less! I had one berry last year!

Chicory – I now have 2 plants which are absolutely lovely – I guess the second was seeded by the first – I have not planted another one.

My ‘wild garden’ has not materialised, but has evolved into a mint and herb garden with occasional other stuff. That’s ok, there is plenty for the insects, and what ever it is that is having a dig in the pots with lavender? I think it must be mice – but what they are after is a mystery as the plants are not touched (or their roots).

Making a pinto bean stew with onions, garlic, tomato and basil, and maybe a little harissa!
