DROUGHT

Time to replace lawns with gardens full of flowers. less intensive farming with perhaps smaller machinery would help restore soil quality and water retention. We have seen how beavers have moderated the flow of water in rivers to the benefit of all. Pumping sewage really must become the last resort. Farms like the poultry ones in the Wye Valley must be forced to become pollution free – or close. We are all going to have to move to a largely plant based diet over the next decade or so. I love cheese but will need to find an alternative to the dairy products I love.

Government announced plans to reduce sewage pollution by 2050 are rather pathetic as it seems to guarantee the bonus’ paid to water company executives regardless of the efficiency they show it cutting sewage and leakages.

like everything else this government reactive (If it gets worse we can expect to see big contracts handed out without scrutiny to rectify the situation).
