ECONOMIC CRISIS

And unbelievably I am informed that 7% of people own second homes. Cornwall and other desirable/delicious places are being socially ravaged by this distortion of reality. If I work hard and am successful and buy a really, really nice house with a big garden – brilliant. Why should anyone be allowed to buy another home for their exclusive use? Local councils should be able to set a % for holiday lets. Local communities are important – is the political term ‘levelling up?”.

I am not sure how housing costs could be brought down rapidly, but no one should have to spend more than 10% of their income on housing. I am a retired single person with a 3 bedroomed bungalow which has 2 spare bedrooms rarely used by my children/grandchildren – being honest. And there are many like me.
