So the Conservative and Unionist Party. The local elections were a severe vote of no confidence in present policies. Already I have heard bleetings from the right about the need for a low tax policy. Firstly they have not got time to bring this in and the financiers of the City have already shown a dislike for the Truss/ERG project. Secondly the votes lost went to Labour, Dem and Greens, not UKIP/Reform Party. The public are aware that the debt needs paying off and cutting taxes for companies and the rich will not wash! Most will also see that raising the tax threshold just before an election is electioneering. So the Party has a dilema – does it continue with Sunak (or show that it can change its leader more often than a Premiership Football Club?). If so does Sunak soldier on with deadweights like Braverman, Coffey, Anderson, etc.? He has time for a purge and set out a new way forward. Or will Johnson and the ERG make a comeback? Party leaders of policy (do they have them) will need to acknowledge that despite huge amounts of money being expended the right still has minimal viewer nubers for their comedic channels, and which obviously had little influence on voters. The same goes for the Main stream press. All their propoganda about WOKE and we have seen the Greens (epitomy of woke?) seeing their number of councillors double to 481. Does this mean culture wars will increase or be dropped as a vite loser? Will we see an increase in expenditure by the right over the next year?
