It appears that Trump appeals to white, male, rural, less educated voters. That was very white middle class of me. I think the vote shows just how different Americans are to Europeans. Less government, less tax, less social support, less tolerant, more individualistic. Will America heal from the differences revealed this year?
Well I was thinking Trump might have sneaked it, but it now looks like Biden has won it and Trump will try to save face by going to court. His ego will not allow him to admit a fair defeat.
I am not despondent about this election – Biden was a crap candidate anyway. Perhaps the Democrats will stop the political crap associated with primaries, etc. . Select a vibrant young contender who can build up a solid base over the next 4 years, assuming that super ego does not try to change the constitution and become idiot for life!
What the liberal and centre/left need to learn is to appeal to the working class just as Trump (a supposed billionaire) has done. In this country that means a massive infrastructure programme for the north, apprenticeships leading to good jobs in preferably the green economy, supporting start up manufacturing industries. After Covid everyone will be feeling a bit dejected so I would promote a Best British Award for design and the arts. Tony Blair appealed to the BritPop culture at the time, there used to be a design centre in London in the 70’s.
