What does need looking at is the way public figures and journalists piled in with careful words of support for the rioters. Even Musk has joined in the attempt to make this a bigger thing. On X Stan Collymore reported a tweet that called him a nigger 32 times but Twitter said it was not against their rules. Fortunately European companies are moving away from Tesla which is already in some financial difficulty.
Farage will claim that “we are not being told everything, whilst not denying the fake rumours”. The police could not release the identity of the murderer as he was under 18 until the Judge OK’d it. He knew this but chose to go ahead with a misleading sttement anyway in full knowledge of the consequences. He should be, oh he is just an odious little creep!
Conservative politicans continue to pedal racist views and comments with impunity, and the BBC continues to give air time to right wing journalists – are its own journalists not qualified to analyse the news?
James O’Brien has just posed a challenge to listeners to name prominent people who talk about the benefits of migration – a very short list of Lineker, Voderman, Flynn and other Scottish Ministers, and …. So much for a balanced argument. Labour are too afraid of standing up to the underlying racism of much of the British Public who, in fairness to them, have had right wing dogma stuffed down their throats for the last 14 years. It is a geographical fact that the most racist parts of England are those with fewest immigrants.
The facts also belie the right wing racist rhetoric. Training Britons (presumably white and English?) to be doctors and nurses is just not going to happen, just as getting the fat boys in the riots to get in the fields to pick fruit and vegetables is also not going to happen!
However I still believe that there is a need to have a proper adult discussion on migration. The demographics suggest a need for it, Proper arguments need to be stated and understood. Much of the asylum seekers hatred is due to misinformation about their accommodation and income. The quicker Labour can clear the backlog and then agree a rational agreement with France and te EU the better. But any agreement will be vilified by the Mail, Express, Telegraph and to a lessrer extent the Times. However proper management of arguments should help if Labour can sort out the BBC!
Whilst forging a new path I hope Labour will act as swiftly regarding the Covid contracts and cronyism. Maybe Labour needs to have a daily broadcast a la Covid to publicise the differences they ae making – The main news channels would feel forced to air them – none of exposing ministers to pathetic questions from barely competent journalists on morning TV, let them pick over the deitrus later but Labours policy of not appearing on GB News (oxymoron alert) seems to be having an effect.
And now to the USA where Trump seems to be rattled – he was confident he had a clear run in with Biden but Harris and Walz seem to be prodding the sore head of the Trump/Vance amoeba . It is weird or maybe strange that Trump and Vance find it offensive to be referred to as weird? Personally I believe that many people have always found me weird! To some extent I think this is a compliment! – I have never been comfortable in the crowd! Being called a hippy was very different to being a mod or rocker in the 60.s Being a hippie entailed a certain amount of confromity to a norm (long hair and certain clothes), but was not like wearing a uniform or conforming? Mods and rockers seemed to have a prescribed way of thought as well as clothes and behaviour.
New housing – Barratts and Co have had it too easy – cronyism? Infrastructure must be part of the deal – If that cuts the profit of the builders from the £50 000 it is at present – so be it. The water companies must be forced into providing the infrastructure needed. Rayner needs to be strong with the companies as well as the NIMBIES.
