So 99 tories voted against vaccine passports and 16 more abstained without pairing. I maintain that vaccine passports should be available but not mandatory, and venues can advertise whether they require them or not. I would chose not to go to a venue without the requirement, but fully understand why some people are less concerned.

Will the rebels force a leadership race? Of course not – they have a leader who has made so many mistakes they can manipulate him. It is unlikely that the right wing would get their preferred candidate so for the time being they are happy controlling the puppet. Thursdays bye election will be important for the swing away from Conservative – they will probably win anyway with the absence of an ABC coalition.

Vaccinations for NHS workers is possibly a massive own goal if it reduces staffing numbers in hospitals. Again a sensible approach would be to mandate the information on whether they are vaccinated, and if not appoint them to ‘safe’ tasks to avoid the ‘Typhoid Mary’ danger.

Watching 400 people crowd together to pass through the voting lobbies was a rather sad spectacle when it could have been done in seconds – and presumably many of these freedom lovers voted against sick MP’s being allowed to vote remotely? Presumably because they are not easily bullied when at home? Or is it because of the opposite? But a dedicated voting network with fingerprint recognition (or iris) would seem imperative in the year 2021?

Basically the argument against measures is that it harms the economy – this is irrelevant when the government can borrow money for virtually nothing and pay back over decades. Yes some, maybe many, business’ will fold. A local run scheme would identify those with a viable future for support – mandates from Whitehall end up being exploited and corrupt. I am sorry but say for instance you run an ice cream parlour, or a dog grooming business and it goes bust, I will get over it. Peoples lives are more important. However there comes a point where people’s lives suffer from shutdowns and this is where balance is needed.

Mask wearing cost nothing and was at worst an inconvenience and should never have been abolished (and 40 tories voted against this). Social distancing should have been maintained where applicable. But really non of it matters if there are no police to enforce. The police say there is no evidence of parties in Whitehall last year – has there been a Stasi like shredding regime on the log books of front desks – especially No.10 Downing Street. I would presume that everyone who enters and leaves is logged – not bad evidence for starters as it gives a list of who to interview! Oh I forgot Cressida Dick received an honours something or other to block anything unsupportive of the Govt. like the Grenfell Enquiry, corrupt payments and contracts, even the Wembley football riot.

Meanwhile back in the real world children are being told to stay at home due to a lack of teachers. I am informed that a comprehensive had 7 known absences from staff in advance, but could only source 1 supply teacher. If the ‘experts ‘ are correct and Omicron will peak in January I wonder how prepared the DoE are? Now that Williamson absence has been noted I wonder if his successor is more on the ball.
