So the government finally decides that the Army truck drivers could be useful and start to be trained now, so by the weekend at the earliest and if needed. That’s decision making. Maybe a request to ask people not to make unessential journeys for a few days would have worked? Even a 2% reduction in usage would have helped if the situation is as ‘not serious’ and ‘no need to panic’ as the government tell us. The situation could also be used to encourage car sharing and reduce journeys for the environmental benefit. Also a good time to roll out investment in electric car chargers!

The Labour Party has been hijacked. Even Tony Blairs ‘labour’ paid some attention to ‘levelling up’ through schemes like Sure Start and the minimum wage increase. All we get from Starmer is plotting to maintain his position as leader of the centrist business party.

Today. 5.25am thrashing rain, high wind blowing over recycling and bins. 7.15 overcast but dry and calm with little breeze. 8.15 bright sunshine force 3 wind. 9.15 overcast again and noticeably colder. 3.10pm high hail stones with thunder and lightning – size of snowberries.
