Economically it would seem to be an absolute disaster. Sanctions will be in force for a long time. Countries like Germany will innovate and find alternative sources of oil and gas or replace them. Oligarchs may well get their money out before the door is closed – but quite what they will do with it remains to be seen. The Russian people will certainly suffer.
Johnson is a fool – the best he can do is lie and say we are world leading. 9 oligarchs named so far. Freezing the assets and sorting out legalities later is within the scope of Parliament, yet he prevaricates. At least this government is so useless it has managed to not do many wrong things!
