SCHOOL NUMBERS

Much of school costs are fixed like utilities so small cohorts means less to spend per head. Many schools should also look to rationalise their management structures. Will academy schools face the prospect of specialist teachers travelling between multiple sites? As secondary schools become affected in 5 or so years will it affect the diversity of the curriculum? Will schools in city areas concentrate on promoting certain fields of study – sciences or humanities or arts? Will the middle school concept be enhanced so students specialise a bit more from 14? Will sixth forms be viable and as widespread as at present?

Seems like Michelle Donelan took one look at the problems facing education and wisely jumped ship. Cleverly was not so clever! Teacher strikes are almost inevitable. Contracting opportunities will further damage morale. Energy costs are rocketing. Support services dwindling.
