SELFISHNESS

Whilst this is true I would guess that we all accept that circumstances change and even manifesto pledges may have to change in light of something like Covid. What I do not accept is a government that rules only for the people most likely to vote for it. Old people like me could pay more tax, people with mortgages under half a million could get tax relief, as could those paying rent, landlords could be taken to rent tribunals to fix a fair rent.

But no – Johnson and his nasty cronies are protecting the retired tory party supporters and hitting the young with 2.5% tax increase. And where was Starmer with a fully detailed alternative plan? This has been coming down the line for weeks. Starmer cannot, will not get voter support for the nasties by just criticising, however bad and corrupt they are. Corbyn has policies that were generally popular, it was just that the press crucified him, his party deserted him, and he made a few gaffs (although maybe 1% of those made by the joker in charge.

Back to the title of this blog – a government is supposed to govern in the best interests of all its people where possible. Fail. It is supposed to make decisions on the balance of benefits to the population at large and the long term. Fail. I hate them!
