SLEAZE 2

He cannot rely on the tory bias of the press – even the Daily Mail has run headlines about sleaze. Surely a concerted campaign against lobbying and all MP’s accepting money outside their salaries would be simple enough. No gifts or free holidays, or free tickets to sporting events. If necessary pay them more. The same should apply to civil servants. So why is Labour strangely quiet? OK, they are criticising, but the public does not really take notice of moaning (it seems part of the British character so is not really noted – just look at the sour faces around town). That is why Johnson appeals – he is positive and vibrant and therefore people will ignore the fact that he has no morals or intellect. Starmer is staid and boring – with a crisis, or crisis’ on crisis’, the public needs positivism.

Climate change does not need jokes or a litany of negativity. It needs leadership which is not just saying we will invest blah, blah billions in blah, blah. But proper proposals that admit the costs to people, but also outlines the measures taken to mitigate the cost to the public.

If the multinational carbon and mineral companies start a false news campaign just hit them with a tax. If it hits their profits and dividends and therefore private pensions – so be it. There is a campaign for a referendum on climate mitigation measures. Perhaps it should be allowed under strict rules. No adverts that have not been fact checked. A strict budget for both sides and …. no actually this is a crap idea as the rich would find a way to subvert and distort. Farage would wangle his way onto every BBC programme, holding a pint and talking bollocks.
