Israel – I am not Jewish or Muslim so maybe I should butt out with no comment. Biden and Starmer back Israels right to “defend itself”. This is ok until put in context. Israel has supported terrorism in the West Bank, is guilty of genocide in Gaza and has commited murders in foreign countries. Basically sympathy went out of the window some time ago. Kamala Harris may well lose the election on this issue. I am fairly sure that the majority if the UK pop would not favour Israel at any cost. I suspect that many who bang on about demonstartors with Palestinian flags would be hard pressed to locate either country on a map! We acn expect Farage (odious little virus) to whip up anti-islamic hate again soon.
Labour – this government is now entering a dangerous period. UK expects change, but not austerity. Winter fuel payment cuts seems to be more problematic in implemntation than on paper! Yes there is a ‘black hole’ financially – but governments can always find the dosh if needed! The election is won and the soft tories who were turned may still stay with Labour if they are brave and hit the mega rich. The Unite Union proposed tax of 1% on those with £4000000 in assets would be welcome by most? Tax on the mega wealthy has not led to them fleeing Spain or other countries where it has been introduced.
So Labour beware – the country expects. It needs to be prepared for ridiculous headlines and attacks by the RWMedia. Are they brave enough to tell them to fuck off, we will do it our way? It grieves me to say it, but I think the sorting out of the water industry may need some unpalatable comprimises to keep investors on side! Angela Rayner can also expect a fussilage of hatred regarding her housing proposals – and again this is not a simple issue. There are many ancillary issues like sewage, water supply, accessibility, raod traffic, solar energy, farming, countryside, etc. She has the poisoned chalice and I wish her well – she is a hero of mine.
And so we are losing abot 3 or 4 minutes of daylight each day from now until December 21st. I have noticed the darkness at 5am. We have not had a sunny summer this year and even the next fortnight of decent weather is not expected to be hot or particularly sunny. Personally I love it!
