UK FOREIGN POLICY

They could be useful in humanitarian disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes, but quite what to do with the attack fighter aircraft? Is there any chance Amazon might want to introduce a super fast delivery system?

just doing some maths – I failed A level! But £8 billion; Then the nuclear deterrent (someone has been watching too many James Bond movies) at approx £200+ billion. I don’t understand! Any nuclear power will have defence systems, etc. So any attack will be met with similar force and we all die, apart from those in bunkers where they have to stay for a while. Surely the great invention of the nuclear bomb – which may have brought the Pacific War to a close, has been proven to be a weapon of mass destruction beyond belief – leaving little behind. i.e. In the context of modern society pointless.

And before being criticised for being anti the military, I believe they do a great job, and we need their super trained personnel to protect us and our resources overseas. Was it the Iranian Embassy siege where our armed forces carried out their instructions perfectly? Let’s start at home, put our forces on watch for drugs etc. from abroad – cut that supply off. We are an island and with covid still reducing international travel should not be too difficult.
