UKRAINE

Then some geography – During the USSR era I believe that many Russians settled in Eastern Ukraine (and Crimea?). This is true of many areas around the world where new borders have been drawn around disparate populations, or the populations have changed.

I am not in anyway well informed in this area so my comments are thoughts – Am I correct that there has been little complaint from the population of Crimea regarding annexation of their land? I think this maybe an erroneous statement as many Crimean’s fled when the Russians invaded,

To what extent is the British Press talking up the possible conflict in order to deflect attention away for the moral corruption that fmascarades as our Government.

Another opinion – Putin is no fool but could he sustain an invasion especially in the event of counter embargo and sanctions. Does he over estimate the reliance of countries like Germany on Russian gas, and any impact that disruption would have on prices.

Will this potential shock to world energy prices impact on greater renewable and local energy sources?

Then the USA. Where will Biden decide to draw a line. He has no majority and mid-term elections are at present likely to deprive him of any opportunity to deliver any meaningful policies. Unless he can increase his representation in Congress, which is unlikely given the continued support of the rabid for Trump? With the American economy doing OK (I think – although inflation is high) it is unlikely that there would be any appetite for a USA intervention. Trump brought the American borders in figuratively. Their interventions in the Middle East and North Africa have frankly been disastrous.
