There are suspicions about the role of government in making vaccination compulsory or even imposing moral pressure on people. I think this all comes down to the British or even European tendency to see rules as being made to be broken. The glorification of the maverick outsider or even downright criminal – the Robin Hood Effect. I think most people go along with the NHS but as soon as activities are outsourced suspicions increase and compliance decreases.
Countries where compliance is almost total have avoided the huge death toll we have. Even NZ and Australia have imposed draconian crack downs. Countries like the UK and USA have been rather lax and slow ing imposing any restrictions, and have suffered accordingly.
I have stated this before but the government really needs to listen to behavioural scientists.
