Long term forecasts I have looked at predict a mildish winter. The Daily Express has been renowned for its stupid forecasts for a few years, but other papers now seem to have caught the weather virus. The Star, whilst ridiculous, is usually amusing! Their latest was BBC and MetOffice ‘poles apart’.
I am not going to surmise on the prospect of snow this winter, it’s the weather and we know the UK is predictably unpredictable. There is no correlation between the number of acorns and winter weather. To be honest this is totally logical – plants react to past weather, not future. So whilst a drought or flood is statistically unlikely to be followed by a similar event the ‘old country folks’ weather lore is probably just bull.
