Regarding the strikes – it is difficult to see how he can “win”. With over 50% of the public supporting and only a third being against them. Union leaders are on about £80000 for comparison.
Trump is recommended for prosecution by a bipartisan committee (including Republicans who have endorsed the decision) which has investigated his attempted insurrection. Can America swing back to a democracy? Can the UK avoid swinging towards the right?
Migrants – there would seem to be a simple solution! Open up legal routes with fair and just scrutiny, then return those crossing by boat to wherever they come from. If they have a just reason they can of course stay. That will not please the racists (about 25-30% of the UK population) who want to cut all migration of non-white people. On this ….
….. the demographic problem has not been confronted. Well no surprises there with this government of charlatan wasters. As a geography teacher I have been talking about it to my students for the last 20 years. People get older (who would have thought!), and fewer children being born = an ageing population with fewer economically active and greater life expectancy. There are several alternatives; the easiest is to allow migration of young and able people (Brexit showed this to be unpopular); export jobs – we have already done that with the destruction of manufacturing under the Tory led globalisation fiasco; increase pension age which we are doing or reduce life expectancy – could the run down of the NHS be part of this programme? I am not cynical enough to believe that – yet!
I do think we probably have too many people in the UK/world – which is having a detrimental impact on the environment in every aspect; species diversity; species extinction; climate change; oceanic change. We also have too great an expectation for travel. Of course the young should be able to travel but the rich should not be travelling nearly so much. Surely there is not the need anymore? It is in the interests of business to encourage growth by stimulating demand, this is not sustainable. Companies that do not increase sales are said to be failing – surely a steady income in profit is enough? No greed is now seen as a virtue.
