WHERE ARE WE?

Putin’s war seems to be stuttering and the west needs to be prepared for the actions we ignored in Syria. It is worth mentioning the blind eye we turn towards Palestine, Yemen, Myamir. It looks unlikely that he will achieve military victory in days – economic sanctions will become increasingly harmful. The hurt will be greater culturally and socially – Facebook, Apple, KFC, McDonalds, etc. are iconic worldwide – and shutting down their operations will give Russian youth a clear indication of world disapproval.

My guess – Putin will increase firepower, and destruction. What then is unpredictable. It seems unlikely that he can win the war and he envisaged it. Will Eastern States of Ukraine align with him and give him a consolation prize. If this happens and Nato accepts Ukraine and Finland as members it would seem the start of another ‘Cold War’. Spending on military will increase across the rich world – resulting in less available for the less well off, both at home and globally.

Meanwhile we have our own consequences – nothing like the harm inflicted on the people of Ukraine. Inflation is rising – taxes are rising – food poverty is rising – fuel poverty is rising – but the government have not got a clue.

Patriotism comes to mind here – this thought is not very capitalistic – the energy companies should donate their obscene profits. It has taken years for the Government to take the Russians to task – will it take a similar time for them to address this ulcer on our economy.

Will we get an answer to the amount of Russian money that influenced the vote for EU membership.

Aid to Ukraine is held up by Brexit red tape (You cannot blame the EU as if we were members there would be no problem. Brexit was a shit decision – and how many people are brave, intelligent and sensible enough to agree.
