I have no sympathy for shop lifting or theft, but! it is not morally correct to throw the weight of the law at the theft of £20 whilst embezzlement (via tenuously legal means of tax avoidance) iss not only ignored but applauded by the thick! The press have always loved the easy target of those on the dole – I am sure and very certain that some are work shy spongers, but just as sure that most would love a decent job and the benefits thereof. With 2 or 3 million on sickness benefits it is surely time to examine the environment of work?
I have read accounts of the shifts done by doctors in hospitals – not only the hours but the mental trauma they endure, and still Tory right wing fuckers think they are over paid! But never a word about the City Wankers who basically get paid for gambling with other peoples money – and boy, do they get paid!
Capitalism, I appreciate how that someone who, e.g. invents the iPhone gets paid millions for this invention. But then they die and someone else steps in, most ‘decisons’ they make are simple as their minions will have provided the statistics of sales, competitors, interset rates, foreign exchange details; but this person still gets the kudos and wages of the inventor. Average wage of CEO of FTSE100 is above £4 million. Many will also have other jobs – so just hard can it be? I am sure they fill their time with meetings talking bollocks. They will also have time to go to club and the golf course or gym, Not for them the getting home from a second job exhausted to finsd an equally exhausted over-worked spouse needing help with a couple of kids, dinner, washing and bed time!
So have Labour got it right? Sorry for the quick change of tack! Do we really need all these homes – which are unlikely to be built in the right places (sorry but that is 99% certain)! A proper audit of housing followed by proportionate council tax rises would be a start. An audit of what is available in each area. The audit of need would be more difficult – we would all like a villa! – but not impossible. The benefits to the economy of a society where most people are tied to onerous rents/mortgages is stifling.
Arguments that the top brass need to socialise is bollocks – it just inflates costs and profits in London.
