THIS POST INCLUDES SWEARING

Must be the teacher in me to say that because basically I do not give a f***. Asterixes are just for the first few lines – see I am a nice person really! But there are a number of things that need strong words (are they adverbs or adjectives, or whatever?).

STARMER

The Labour Party has been hijacked. Even Tony Blairs ‘labour’ paid some attention to ‘levelling up’ through schemes like Sure Start and the minimum wage increase. All we get from Starmer is plotting to maintain his position as leader of the centrist business party.

WEATHER

Today. 5.25am thrashing rain, high wind blowing over recycling and bins. 7.15 overcast but dry and calm with little breeze. 8.15 bright sunshine force 3 wind. 9.15 overcast again and noticeably colder. 3.10pm high hail stones with thunder and lightning – size of snowberries. And now sunny again. I just love our climate. 4pm sunshine

TRAINS VS LORRIES

A competition the lorry won years ago. But do some maths. A train will take up to 50 containers say from Bristol to Manchester. One driver and lets pay him £200 for half a day(possibly night shift). At each end it will need 50 lorries to distribute at a time cost of 2 hours (loading/unloading delivery. So @ £30 an hour that is another £1500 taking the total to £1700. So lets add in £300 admin. I have no idea about the cost of rail or road haulage but at present we have about £2000 or £40 per container.

FOOTBALL WEEK 6

Well the afternoon gets off to a stunning start with Chelsea losing at home to ManC and then ManU losing at home to Villa and missing a late penalty to boot.  Is this the season to be remembered for missed penalties?  Rashford, Sancho, Saka, Antonio (WHU – Newcastle), Nobel (WHU – ManU), Fernandez (ManU – AV).  10 have been scored in the Premiership this season with Calvert-Lewis having scored 2.Will it be Liverpool top at the end of today?  And will Brighton be second on Tuesday morning or even top! if Liverpool lose at Brentford?

UNDERSTANDING?

Labour shortages are occurring across the UK, EU, and USA on a scale not reported before the pandemic. As the pandemic hit mainly older people it seems unlikely that deaths can be a factor in the labour shortage. Brexit can partially explain the UK situation, but similar problems in France and Germany need examination. Politically there has been a shift left recently, I just throw that comment in!
